Just got an email from our housing coordinator, they're doing road work on our street for the next six weeks. Good thing I wanted to lose weight, ain't no way we're finding parking anywhere near our apartment.
In other news, though, it's been a great week! My companion and I are continuing to help our friend work towards baptism, and he's doing great! This week has been a miracle week for him, he's so close to overcoming all the obstacles in his way! Thank you for all the prayers this last week, I know that it has truly helped him.
We're helping another lady move towards baptism. She moved from Africa a few years ago, and with the help of her husband she is now coming to church every week and learning more about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It's been so cool to watch her learn all about the church from a culture you don't see too much of around here.
Some time last week, one of the sisters announced in our zone group chat that she needed some volunteers to come help dig a foundation for a green house. She put a poll in to see who could come, but only a few people actually filled out the poll. I guess people didn't understand that she was only looking for a few people to come to the service (hence the poll), and that she didn't ask the ENTIRE ZONE to come by. Anyways, Wednesday morning comes and my companion and I pull up to the elementary school where we're digging. Since we live way out there, we were running about 10 minutes late. When we got there, there was a fleet of matching mission vehicles all lined up in the parking lot. Impressively, almost every companionship in the zone pulled up and parked side by side. It was quite the sight to see.
Needless to say, there were way too many people than missionaries who showed up, so we got to help out with a lot more than just the foundation. We helped with the rest of their garden, pulling weeds and such, and other maintenance around the property. Moral of the story: don't even mention service to a group of missionaries or you will get all of them. Pictures in the Google Album below.
This is the last week of the transfer, and then we'll see where I get shipped off to next. I've been in La Mesa for about 4.5 months, so I'm guessing I'll be leaving. On Sunday, during the sacrament, I made a goal to be more forgiving. There's some interesting folk here in San Diego, and it's my goal to let the unpleasant people bounce right off. I'll keep you updated next week if it worked or not.
