My heart is so full this week! There's so many great things that happened, and I am so excited to share with all of you. Best part of the week. But, first off, can we talk about how much better Costco lunch meat is than Walmart lunch meat? Sorry, I'm writing this while eating dinner. It's currently Sunday night at 10:17pm and I've been mega busy all day.
So this week we started teaching two new friends, U and S. We met with a few of our other friends as well, all in the pursuit that they will come to church and find true joy in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When Sunday came around, they both came to church! It's always interesting to view church from the point of view of a first-timer, lots of church language and culture thrown around like everyone knows what they're talking about.
One really cool thing that happens here in La Mesa is setting goals with God. We really prayed about our goals for the last week and tried to determine what the Lord was gonna help us accomplish. As we went through the week, we had faith that we could accomplish said goals, and that gave us faith in Jesus. We came very close to hitting our goals, but I felt like we got as close as we did because of our faithful setting and following of goals. It's not something I've experienced in the 16 months of serving.
Sunday night we had our Why I Believe devotional. I helped run the broadcast and video, and it did really well! It may not have helped the La Mesa area directly, but I've heard of experiences from other missionaries as they brought the friends that makes it all worth it. We were there to set up at about 3:00 and left that night at 9:00, but it was all worth it and it turned out super well!
So, Walmart has a nice $20 Bluetooth speaker. It looks like an Easter egg. I bought said Easter egg to use in the shower. I wanted to listen to music so that I can keep track of time while showering. I downloaded all the Tabernacle songs that had the full orchestra in them, and there is one song that is super good! It's hymn 19, "We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet".
It's a really interesting name, because only the first line talks about prophets. The rest of it is a prayer of gratitude to God. I hope that my testimony can match the feelings that this song gives, especially the 3rd verse and the extra verses that the choir added in, in the recording I have.
When dark clouds of trouble hang o’er us And threaten our peace to destroy, There is hope smiling brightly before us, And we know that deliv’rance is nigh. We doubt not the Lord nor his goodness. We’ve proved him in days that are past. We’ll sing of his goodness and mercy. We’ll praise him by day and by night, Rejoice in his glorious gospel, And bask in its life-giving light. Thus on to eternal perfection The honest and faithful will go,
Friends, family, I hope that you are all pursuing that eternal perfection. With the atonement of Jesus Christ we can grow closer to that goal every day. I have a hard time putting into words just how much I feel a love for my savior and this Gospel of change. Enos and Mosiah 3-5 do a better job than I can.
Hope you all have an amazing week! Have fun becoming a better person this week than last.
